I'm surprised Orbital by Samantha Harvey isn't on here! The prose is beautiful but it lowkey frustrated me that nothing *happens* lol. You might dig it though - it's fairly short, too :)
I just tagged this to send out to our Writing Club in a few weeks!!! So good, and you've got me wanting to read the one about the mountain lion in LA ... sounds weird and interesting
My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh comes to mind right away. Have you read it? I'm not sure if you would enjoy it or dislike it and now I'm very curious
Yes I enjoyed it a lot! Haven't read since it came out but it's definitely my favorite Moshfegh, she's a great writer but I can't deeply love a lot of her work
I thought I would love this, and couldn't stand the narrator. I feel the same way about JD salinger now but loved that when I was in high school... i bet these have a lot to do with where you're at in life bc I think i was slightly too old for MYoRaR
I am in the middle of The Hearing Test about a woman who suddenly loses her hearing. The book is her chronicling the small moments and observations of her life as she adjusts. It’s a quick read, but very astute!
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern is a great example of a plotless novel/ beautiful imagery
Ooh yes this one is on my radar, thanks for reminding me of it!
I'd also add Colm Toibin's Brooklyn.
Thanks for the recommendation!

HAHA I hope you love it!

It’s my favorite too. I’ve read most if not all of her books to varying degrees of enjoyment, though overall I love how she writes

I definitely don’t like the narrator of MYoRaR so I absolutely get that!
The same thing happened to me with Catcher In The Rye!
